Sony Vegas Pro 14.0 Build 252:
Sony Vegas Pro is
a video editing software used for professionals needing to create
high quality HD videos. This Professional version includes some features which
are missing from other versions such as support for gigapixel images,
multilayer Adobe Photoshop files and a wider support of capture
cards.
Sony Vegas Pro is
comparable to other industry standard video editing packages such
as Adobe Premiere or Final Cut Pro but follows Sony's own
workflow logic which is a little different to both Premiere and Final Cut.
You may therefore
struggle at first if you've only tried the latter, though Sony Vegas Pro is
well documented with a very detailed manual. Sony Vegas Pro offers support for
pretty much everything a professional needs including the ability to import
media from multiple devices (including HD video), use more than 300
filters and special effects, specific tools to work with
text layers and subtitlesand easily optimize image quality.
But as you might
expect from Sony, a lot of attention is also paid to how videos sound and the
quality of the video soundtrack in general. There's also a huge
number of sound effects to choose from, support for VST plug-ins and Sony Vegas
generally gives you a very high degree of control over sound settings.
Standard timeline
interface
The Sony Vegas Video
interface follows a standard video editing interface. There are several windows
to preview your media and current work, as well as a timeline to organize the
various audio and video tracks. The best thing about the Sony Vegas Video
interface is that it's totally customizable: you can freely open, close and
arrange the program's diverse modules to best suit your needs.
This use of
interchangeable modules may be confusing at first for those used to Premiere
and Final Cut but it does offer a high degree of control of your
editing interface. There are also other nuances that Premiere or Final
Cut users will have to adapt to - some tools are find under different
menus for example and it definitely takes some time to get accustomed to the
Sony Vegas Pro interface.
A highly accomplished
video editor
Sony Vegas Pro is an
industry standard video editor and if you're looking for an alternative to
packages such as Final Cut and Premiere, or need something more
powerful when it comes to audio editing, Sony Vegas Pro is definitely worth a
try.
